- A small to medium sized deciduous tree finest for general cultivation
- Smooth textured bark which exfoliates as it ages. Flakes like a sycamore
- Bark has a mottled or camoflaged appearance with patterns of brown, orange and green with creamy-grey mixed in
- Pyramidal to rounded in shape
- Deep green foliage and leaves arranged alternately on stems
- Leaves have an elliptical shape with finely serrated edges
- Foliage turns yellow, red, orange or purple in the autumn
- Flowers up to 8cm wide with 5 white petals and orange/yellow stamens, shaped like camellia flowers: round and flat to somewhat cupped
- Flowers produced in June to end of August and give way to brownish fruit
- 20 - 40ft height
